The Tobermory distillery produces two single malt whiskies, alternating over a six-month period: the unpeated 'Tobermory' and the heavily peated 'Ledaig'. Different barley varieties are used to make the two whiskies, but they are then distilled in the same stills. Ledaig single malts are sweet, smoky whiskies, known for their strong personality, made exclusively with strongly peated malt - the result is an exquisite whisky with delicious marine flavors.
Nose: Notes of delicate orange lead followed by touches of apricot and popcorn lending sweetness to the maritime seaweed that echoes in the glass. Subtle pipe tobacco adds to the elegant smokiness and is rounded out by honey, vanilla and boiled sweets.
Palate: Light and zesty oak spice is joined by the rich and sweet bonfire smokiness that is so unmistakably Torabhaig spirit. Subtly waxy with hints of honey and vanilla balancing sea salt and seaweed that ebbs away to white pepper and sweet spice.
Finish: Like a sunset over the Sound of Sleat, this is lingering and elegant with notes of honey, storms and the ocean.
Nose: Ardbeg Smokiverse offers intense aromas of peat smoke, sea salt and medicinal notes typical of Islay whiskies. Mouth: On the palate, this single malt reveals powerful, complex flavors of peat, black pepper, licorice and dried fruit, accompanied by an oily texture and a touch of vanilla. Finish: The finish is long and persistent, giving way to notes of peat smoke, burnt oak and citrus zest.
Nose: Citrus, tropical fruit and malty sweetness. Floral notes (rose and violet), fresh vanilla beans, candied orange and creamy fudge.
Mouth: Malted barley underscored by popcorn, brown sugar and warm porridge. Bere barley offers a smooth texture with sweet aromas of apricot, peach, melon and candied orange.
Finish: Milk chocolate, crushed barley and crème brûlée with a hint of mango, orange blossom and sweet honey.
