The Tobermory distillery produces two single malt whiskies, alternating over a six-month period: the unpeated 'Tobermory' and the heavily peated 'Ledaig'. Different barley varieties are used to make the two whiskies, but they are then distilled in the same stills. Ledaig single malts are sweet, smoky whiskies, known for their strong personality, made exclusively with strongly peated malt - the result is an exquisite whisky with delicious marine flavors.
Nose: Kilkerran Cadenhead 13 Year Old whisky is distinguished by intense aromas of ripe fruit, honey and vanilla, accompanied by notes of peat and smoke. Mouth: On the palate, this Scottish single malt reveals complex flavors of cereals, spices, dried fruit and dark chocolate, all sublimated by a salty touch characteristic of whiskies from the Campbeltown region. Finish: The finish of Kilkerran CDN 13 yo is long and warm, leaving lingering notes of candied fruit and spicy oak on the palate, for a rich, balanced taste experience.
Nose: A combination of malty notes, barley husks and smoked peanut skins with burnt toast, smoked raspberries and blackcurrant. There’s a hint of antiseptic as well, accompanied by burlap and just a tinge of cordite.
Taste: Charred meat, a hint of spent matches and cherry liqueur, as well as cured meats and black pepper. Touches of redcurrants and fresh rubber, as well as streaky bacon, wood smoke and smoke paprika powder.
Finish: Medium to long. More pepper, decent salinity and definitely more rubber
