Founded in 1815 on the southern shores of Islay, Laphroaig is one of Scotland’s most distinctive distilleries, celebrated for its unapologetically peaty and bold character. Its story is shaped by fearless personalities, conflicts, breakthroughs and a long-standing tradition of doing things differently. Inspired by distillation techniques brought by Irish monks and carried forward by the native Ilich, whisky-making on Islay first grew in secrecy before becoming fully recognized. Laphroaig remains true to this heritage, crafting intensely smoky, maritime and unmistakable single malts that reflect the rugged spirit and history of the island.
