Alongside the Caribbean, Central America and South America, the Canary Islands make a decisive contribution to the production of quality rum. For those seeking an original product that stands out from the majority of other rums and offers something new, Aldea Familia 15 Years Old, from the Aldea Distilleries S.L. distillery, located on the island of La Palma, near Tenerife, is the ideal rum. Limited edition of 7092 bottles, distilled in 2001 and bottled in 2016.
Contrary to what you might think, the sugar cane comes from Europe, more precisely from the island on which the distillery is located. The cane is pressed to extract the juice, which is then fermented and used as the basis for the Aldea distillation process. The Quevedo family, who make this top-of-the-range rum, not only use American oak barrels, but also French oak (Allier) barrels for this masterpiece. The nose of Aldea Familia Rum is dominated by sugarcane aromas, with a hint of sweetness.
