This whiskey was aged in American (ex-bourbon) oak casks and matured in Oloroso sherry and Moscatel casks.
At the 1876 Derby, Ireland's most important horse race, the odds on the horse named Tyrconnell were 1:100. But the bookmakers were wrong, for after a rather slow start, Tyrconnell began to gallop faster and faster and decided the outcome of the race. After this grandiose victory, Derry's famous Watt family of distillers decided to create an anniversary bottling with their finest malt named after the race-winning horse, Tyrconnell.
Yellow Spot 12 year old Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey is proudly produced exclusively for Mitchell & Son Wine Merchants, Dublin, where the brand was born. This whiskey contains single pot still components aged in ex-bourbon, ex-sherry and ex-malaga wine casks. This maturation gives this whiskey more complexity than its little brother Green Spot, but allows the more complex aspects of the Single Pot Still spirit to be explored in greater depth.
