The 9-year-old Bowmore is a single malt Scotch whisky that has been matured in a combination of ex-American oak bourbon casks and ex-European oak Oloroso sherry casks before being carefully married and bottled.
Nose: Lively, sweet, soft fire smoke, marine, a hint of lemon. Apricot jam, hints of candied ginger and cracked black pepper.
Taste: Sweet coastal peat smoke, pineapple and apples. Oatmeal cookies, notes of heather honey and a gentle hint of tobacco all combine to give a formidable balance.
Nose: Peaty smoke, underlined by notes of orange peel, tangy fruit and a hint of ember. A hint of vanilla sweetness and some freshly sawn oak spices.
Mouth: Peaty with a stronger toasted note, some pepper, light balsamic acidity, sweet spices. Cedar and leather with nice complexity thanks to the sherry casks.
Finish: Harmonious. The sherry influence is clearly present, as are the sweet spices.
Nose: opens with coconut, oat biscuits, and zesty orange peel, layered with salty sea air, leaves on a bonfire, and a hint of strawberry laces and mint. Mouth: rich and creamy, with custard creams, vanilla wafer, brine, and earthy smoke. Finish: A lingering, smoky and maritime warmth
Nose: Fresh, sweet fruitiness of lemon zest and white grape, exotic (pink grapefruit and ripe mango). A particularly spicy, woody note hovers above. A drop of water dries out these aromas and introduces a pinch of white pepper.
Taste: Creamy, full texture with a sweet flavor. Fruity and malty behind that homemade rum caramel, exotic notes of spicy pineapple and green banana, made even more palatable by spicy, dry oak.
Finish: Quite short, sweet and peppery.
Nose: Dark chocolate, sweet accents of dried fruit and some Islay smoke with a fine maritime spiciness.
Mouth: Red fruits, sweet-spicy hints of oak and fine caramel syrup.
Finish: Strong and complex with light sherry and gentle Islay smoke notes.
