After his unsuccessful attempt to regain the Scottish throne from the English in 1745, Prince Charles Edward Stuart fled to France. Before he left, however, he offered his recipe to the MacKinnon family. The elixir soon became known as 'Dram Buidheach', the drink that makes you happy.
