The mashbill is made from Arantes rye, Odyssey malt and Vicomte wheat. Aging took place in freshly burnt American oak casks.
Arbikie was first mentioned in 1794 as an agricultural distillery. Centuries ago, distilling was a craft with a truly local touch. In those far-off days, all the ingredients for production came from the farm and the immediate surroundings. 1794 Highland Rye Single Grain Scotch Whisky pays homage to this tradition from field to bottle - returning to a truly authentic way of distilling and producing a spirit with a sense of place and a taste of the land and sea that surround the distillery.
Nose: Tomatin Cù Bòcan Signature reveals aromas of light smoke and vanilla, with fruity and floral notes in the background. Feel: On the palate, this Scottish single malt reveals flavors of caramel, red berries and toasted oak, with a touch of subtle peat. Finish: The finish is long and warm, marked by notes of smoky oak and black pepper, leaving a sensation of sweetness on the palate.
Nose: Very distinctively oily, with touches of extra virgin olive oil, sweet briar wood, aromatic herbs (coriander & sage) and a suggestion of smoked lemon peel. A splash of water releases more oiliness, like linseed oil, a gentle waxiness, and a burst of perfumed, aromatic carbolic soap, and finally, a whiff of crème brulee. Mouth: A soft, oily, mouthcoating texture leads into a rich, sweet, smoky palate, with hints of oak moss, treacle, aniseed lozenges and a lovely, sweet, woody/balsamic flavour. This is then followed by smoked apricots and eucalyptus oil. Finish: Finally comes a lingering, sweet/smoky aftertaste, with a touch of cumin, cardamon and the merest hint of coconut.
