Another of the Ballantine’s trio of malts, this Glentauchers sherry butt was finished in a 2nd fill Oloroso sherry butt (ex-Glenallachie) for 21 months.
Nose: Glendronach Ode to the Dark reveals intense aromas of ripe fruit, honey and dark chocolate, with a hint of toasted oak. Feel: On the palate, this single malt reveals rich flavors of dried fruit, caramel and spice, balanced by hints of vanilla and licorice. Finish: The finish is long and warm, marked by nuances of candied fruit and subtle oak.
Nose: Kilkerran Heavily Peated n°11 offers intense aromas of peat, smoke and ripe fruit, with hints of sea salt in the background. Feel: On the palate, this single malt reveals powerful flavors of peat, black pepper and vanilla, with a round, smooth texture. Finish: The finish is long and warm, marked by lingering notes of peat and dried fruit.
Nose: Fresh, sweet fruitiness of lemon zest and white grape, exotic (pink grapefruit and ripe mango). A particularly spicy, woody note hovers above. A drop of water dries out these aromas and introduces a pinch of white pepper.
Taste: Creamy, full texture with a sweet flavor. Fruity and malty behind that homemade rum caramel, exotic notes of spicy pineapple and green banana, made even more palatable by spicy, dry oak.
Nose: Round and powerful with notes of peat, Sherry and dates, as well as leather, malt and honey.
Mouth: Sweet and oily with lots of suppleness. Becomes smoky, with hints of meat and olive.
