A'Bunadh means 'originally', while Alba has a double meaning: directly translated as 'Scotland', the term also refers to the Latin 'quercus alba', in other words, white oak. A'bunadh Alba is an atypical heir to the famous Aberlour distillate, aged exclusively in hand-selected first-fill American oak casks. The result is what Graeme Cruickshank , Aberlour's master distiller, describes as 'notes of caramelized apple and tarte tatin balanced by a lighter floral note from the distillate's alcohol'.
Nose: A bright and vibrant start to this dram, there are notes of green apples, gorse bush, wine gums, and a mineral note.
Palate: The palate is well balanced with a touch of peat smoke, and sweet notes of icing sugar and white chocolate. Notes of tomato plant, sunflower seeds and linseed oil develop.
Finish: The finish brings notes of honey and gooseberries.
A well-balanced, lightly saline Highland single malt whisky that makes an excellent aperitif. A crisp, dry, appetizing malt that opens with fresh, sweet orange notes and a long, dry finish.
