This is the very first peated bottling from Lochlea to be aged in a combination of old Islay casks and peated Quarter Casks, and the first smoky whisky Campbell has created since leaving Laphroaig. A comforting dram for the winter months, the resulting aromas include baked sweets, baked apples and Brazil nuts intertwined with notes of lingering peat.
Nose: Punchy sweet oak and fresh vanilla pods, mingled with toasted coconut and flaked almonds. Notes of lemon zest and poached, spiced pears emerge with time.
Palate: A wonderful balance of Speyside fruit and oak spice. Sweet cinnamon sugar, vanilla custard, and melting banana toffee, layered with earthy nuts and a distinct caramelised warmth from the toasting.
Finish: Long, warm, and slightly dry, featuring lingering oak spice, fennel, and subtle hints of menthol and tobacco.
Nose: Smoky vanilla, caramel and sweet toffee flavors enhanced by peat smoke, coconut and slivered almonds. The earthy smoke harmonizes beautifully with notes of citrus, lemon meringue pie and succulent grilled meat.
Mouth: Citrus, smoke and obvious minerality followed by a burnt oak flavor. Toffee, vanilla, earthy smoke and fruity notes of pear, gooseberry and green apple. Roasted coffee, a hint of clove, nutmeg and heather honey.
Finish: Butterscotch, vanilla and earthy peat smoke typical of Octomore with salty sea spray, burnt heather and broom flowers.
Nose: Glendronach Ode to the Embers reveals rich, complex aromas of red fruits, honey, vanilla and toasted oak. Feel: On the palate, this 8-year-old single malt offers an oily, velvety texture with notes of caramel, dried fruit, cinnamon and licorice. Finish: The finish is long and warm, leaving lingering flavors of candied fruit, dark chocolate and burnt wood.
Nose: Baked fruit with light peat smoke in the background.
Mouth: Old-fashioned baked sweets, baked apple, Brazil nut.
Finish: Persistent fruit and hazelnut, all interwoven with hints of Islay peat smoke.
