This is the very first peated bottling from Lochlea to be aged in a combination of old Islay casks and peated Quarter Casks, and the first smoky whisky Campbell has created since leaving Laphroaig. A comforting dram for the winter months, the resulting aromas include baked sweets, baked apples and Brazil nuts intertwined with notes of lingering peat.
Nose: Smooth and soft. Orange cream cake, a hint of vanilla, light slivered almond note and a slight green note. A drop of water enhances the waxy note.
Mouth: Creamy, sweet, note of Seville orange peel before drying out, a little peppery spiciness. A drop of water softens the taste and reduces acidity, but does not alter the overall profile.
Nose: Tamdhu bt.8 Cask Strenght reveals rich, intense aromas of ripe fruit, honey, vanilla and spicy notes. Feel: On the palate, this single malt offers an explosion of complex, balanced flavors, with notes of dried fruit, toasty oak, caramel and cinnamon. Finish: The finish is long and warm, leaving lingering notes of candied fruit and dark chocolate.
Nose: Rock Island is a Scottish vatted malt from the Highlands. Its nose reveals aromas of peat, sea salt and dried fruit. Feel: On the palate, this whisky offers notes of cereal, vanilla and smoke, with a smooth, creamy texture. Finish: Rock Island's finish is long and enveloping, leaving saline and peppery flavors on the palate.
