In 1999, the Symington family found themselves the leading exporters of Port and owners of ideally situated land in the Douro Valley, in partnership with Bruno Prats, the renowned wine maker and former owner of Château Cos d'Estournel in Bordeaux. Together, they have the same goal: to prove to the world that the Douro can, in addition to producing Port, produce an excellent dry red wine. To achieve this, traditional grape varieties from the best slopes are chosen, and then the fermentation process begins, with all the expertise of Bruno Prats. A modern wine cellar was specially built for this ambitious project at Quinta de Roriz. P + S represent the alliance of two of Europe's greatest winemaking traditions, producing modern wines with a strong personality. With its perfect balance and finesse, the flagship Chryseia is reminiscent of a Médoc plant and has already been named one of the world's top 100 wines by Wine Spectator.
