Mouth: Ultra-unctuous, gourmet texture. Barley sugar, pinch of salt, suggestions of currant and crunchy grape. At reduced strength, it's not as tart, but still spicy; the sweetness is enhanced but the mouth-watering spicy heat remains.

Finish: Long and dry with pepper and mild spice. With milder water, now with a trace of fondant in the aftertaste.

Nose: Blueberries, candied ginger, caramel and vanilla shortbread.
Mouth: Licorice, dark chocolate, red fruit jam, a hint of chili and ginger.
Finish: Chocolate raisins with a touch of caramel.

This Bruichladdich is extremely creamy, maritime and bright. Full of power and peppery, waxy texture, it shows the robustness of Islay whisky without the peat. And it's a true island single malt, evocative and beautifully coastal and mineral.
