Le paradis sur terre’ Good food and good wine, is how King Henri IV described paradise on earth. This quote could also be from Jean-Luc Colombo, as he seems to have inherited the passion for kitchen and cellar from his parents. His family managed a fine restaurant in Marseille, which is where Jean-Luc studied oenology. Together with his wife Anne, an oenologist herself, he founded the Centre of Oenology in Cornas 30 years ago.
As advisers they got to know the terroir and the plants along the Rhone River, thereby developing a special love of the wine village of Cornas. In 1980 they made their lifelong dream come true by acquiring the first parcel with old vines, the ‘Les Ruchets’ vineyard. Since then Anne and Jean-Luc Colombo have produced top wines with a perfect balance.
They are considered to be among the most renowned winemakers in France. The legendary Paul Bocuse serves his customers Colombo as his house wine. Today daughter Laure – herself a vintner, oenologist and globetrotter – has the same passion and energy and is an integral part of the family enterprise.
